Before I start my whole spiel, I would like to say up front that, THIS MOVIE WAS OFF THE CHAIN!!!!! Although the formulaic plot remains the same, as with the previous FDs, this installment provides the same thrill and prickly expectations of disaster with more gory and gruesome scenes. I love how all of the freak accidents involve our everyday fears...such as that big draining hole at the bottom of the swimming pool (admit it, I was not the only 5 year old who avoided the deep end at all costs because of it!! haha). Some other everyday fears are *spoiler* getting impaled by a stick, escalators squishing every bone in your body, and a burning car coming at top speed off a race track. While the storyline was wonderfully horrifying and many of the propelling 3D objects made me stop breathing from fright, some scenes from the actors were a bit stilted and a little unnatural. The acting was not memorable, but of course, the scenes were!! What I really love about the FD movies is that it is predictable: you know who will die and you recognize all the little details that clue you in as to HOW they will die *spoiler* (like when a mother tells her 2 rambunctious children "I've got my eye on you," and coincidentally a lawn mower forcibly spits out a big rock that launches itself into one of her eyes and dislodges it out of her skull). But, aside from the predictability, the beauty is within the expectation of death and actually seeing how the mere coincidences play out. Is it worth the money? Absolutely! The scenes are creative and the thrill is refreshing. The stiff dialogue that were present in a couple of scenes are quickly forgotten because the upcoming action completely overshadowed everything else. Watch your head when *spoiler* that screwdriver and Lori's flesh comes at you!! Thrill-o-meter (out of 5): (get it? "thrill" and a shot of MJ from his "Thriller" music video. RIP.)
